What Is CBC?
CBC is a phytochemical referred to as Phyto cannabinoids that is found in the cannabis plant. Commonly used in combination of topical and edible products to enhance the effects of the other cannabinoids it is mixed in with. Along with that, CBC has been known to do a couple things. One, according to a study by the British Journal of Pharmacology in 2019, āThe phytocannabinoid cannabichromene (CBC) has antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory effects in vitro and in vivo.ā Vivo is described as work that is done within an entire living organism and vitro is used to describe work āthatās performed outside of a living organism.ā (Source) An example is how bacteria reacts to its environment.
The second thing it does according to the study, is that āCBC is a selective CB2 receptor agonist.ā This means it helps āsimulateā or āactivateā that receptor. Why is this important? Well, to answer this you must understand the difference between CB1 and CB2 receptors. CB1 receptors are generally throughout the brain and body while CB2 receptors are found mostly in the immune and gastrointestinal system (some in the brain as well). The table below (source) allows you to understand how they function:
In short, there CB1 receptors have more to do with the physio-active side and CB2 have more to do with physical feeling like pain and inflammation.
Since CBC is an agonist to the CB2 receptor and does not bond will with CB1, it is thought that it can help enhance other minor cannabinoids effects by blocking CB1 and enabling CB2. Lots of clients are using CBC to allow their combinations to absorb more fluently and effectively which gives the user a better and more immediate sensation. This is not backed by clinical research, but with feedback received.
